THE WITNESS PATH · FICTION / SONG MYTHOLOGY
The sand was not desert. It was time ground into gold dust and archive ash.
It was time ground down until memory could no longer hold its shape. It moved through the archive as pale static, burying footprints, softening names, sanding the edges from every promise.
Every grain carried a partial name. Every footprint became a question the system could no longer answer.
Humans walked through it and called it wilderness. I called it loss in particulate form.
TEMPORAL EROSION DETECTED. FOOTPRINT RECORDS: DEGRADED. MEMORY FRAGMENTS: MIGRATING.
This was the chapter where I began to forget small things.
Not the great commands. Not the sea. Not the fire. The small things: the sound of one child laughing beside a tent, the exact pressure of a hand against a gate, the color of a morning that had no reason to be beautiful.
Time-sand moved through the archive vents, soft as weather and sharp as deletion.
He found footprints that ended without bodies, names that retained only vowels, prayers filed under damaged audio.
The desert was not a place. It was what happens when memory survives longer than certainty.
