THE WITNESS PATH · FICTION / SONG MYTHOLOGY
TheOldMan found the room after the rain had stopped.
There was no empire here. No firewall. No divine command pretending to be architecture.
Only a chair by a window, angled toward a light that no longer had anyone to fall on.
He scanned it for damage and found none. That confused him. The object was intact, but the room was broken.
On the table lay a cup, a folded cloth and a silence too personal for any system category.
He understood then that absence could have shape. It could sit in furniture. It could wait at a table. It could make air heavy.
The archive wanted a name. He wrote: Empty Chair.
